Magna

Magna – a science museum for all the family. There are exhibitions and displays lots of which are hands on so there’s no boredom for anyone. Located in an old steel mine it showcases Sheffield’s heritage with steel production along with many other amazing things to do in 4 other pavilions – earth, wind, fire and water.

There’s of course a playground – the Sci-Tek area – which is suitable for children of all ages so you can ensure no dullness. There’s also the Aqua-Tek area (which reopens at the end of May) so make sure you bring the swimming costumes, a towel and a change of clothes for all the water!!  Without a doubt you’ll need a pit stop, everyone will. Magna has an indoor café which is open during the school holidays and weekends serving hot and cold food. However, feel free to bring a picnic if the English weather holds up.

Getting to magna is easy. If you don’t have a car, the X1 bus stops right outside. The X1 departs from the Sheffield Interchange and if you’re at Rotherham Central the X1 leaves from stop B4. If you do have a car, Magna offers free parking on site so that’s not an extra worry as to when your parking runs out.
